Aménagement de l'Eastmain-1

The Eastmain-1 facility contains a 890-meter-long dam, multiple turbines, and generates electricity through water flow from the Eastmain River in northern Quebec.

The construction of Eastmain-1 began in 2002 following the Peace of the Braves agreement between Quebec government and the Grand Council of the Crees.

The development of Eastmain-1 required consultation with Cree communities and implementation of measures to protect traditional hunting and fishing territories.

The power station produces 2.7 terawatt-hours of electricity annually, contributing to Quebec's energy grid through an extensive transmission line network.

The facility includes a spillway capable of managing water flow rates up to 4,400 cubic meters per second, equivalent to two Olympic swimming pools per second.
