Canton-Tremblay

Canton-Tremblay is an administrative sector in Saint-Honoré that stretches along the Saguenay River, mixing developed areas with natural forest landscapes. The region sits within the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean zone of Quebec and connects several neighboring communities.

The area received formal land patents from the Hudson's Bay Company in 1847 and became officially established in 1848. It developed as an administrative division to serve the expanding rural settlement and economic activities of the region.

Rural communities here developed strong connections through shared farming practices and local gatherings that shaped how people interacted for generations. These traditions remain visible in the way residents engage with their land and organize seasonal activities today.

The area is easily accessible from connected towns like Jonquière, Saint-Fulgence, and Chicoutimi, which offer shops and local services. Most locations are best visited by car, and accommodations and dining options are available in the larger neighboring municipalities.

Boundaries shifted in 2002 when the southern portion merged into Saguenay city while the northern part joined Saint-Honoré municipality. This restructuring significantly reshaped the administrative and political landscape of the entire area.
