LeBreton Flats is an urban neighborhood spanning roughly 29 hectares between Bronson Avenue and the Ottawa River, with a mix of residential buildings and commercial spaces. The area sits at about 60 meters elevation and includes riverside paths, green spaces, and several public institutions.
The area was acquired by Lieutenant John LeBreton in the 1820s during the construction of the Rideau Canal, shifting from a military settlement to an industrial district. Its later development shaped it as a key part of Ottawa's growth and urban change.
The Canadian War Museum and National Holocaust Monument stand as central educational institutions within the neighborhood, drawing visitors throughout the year.
Two light rail stations, Pimski and Bayview, connect the neighborhood to Ottawa's transit system. Visitors can easily access the riverside paths and explore different parts of the area on foot.
The neighborhood hosts the annual Ottawa Bluesfest music festival featuring international performers on outdoor stages near Nepean Bay. The festival draws thousands of visitors who enjoy live music in an open setting.
