Saint-Joachim de Pointe-Claire Church

Saint-Joachim de Pointe-Claire Church, Gothic Revival church in Pointe-Claire, Canada.

Saint-Joachim de Pointe-Claire Church is a stone church in Gothic style with a tall central steeple and symmetrical front elevation facing the water. Buttresses and tower elements frame the facade and give the building its distinctive silhouette.

A fire in 1881 destroyed two earlier church buildings on this site, tracing back to the original structure from 1713. The 1885 reconstruction integrated materials from the first building, creating a physical link to the settlement's earliest days.

The interior displays religious figures and carved details that reflect French-Canadian artistic traditions brought to the region by early settlers. These decorative elements reveal how local craftspeople expressed their faith through stone and wood.

The church welcomes visitors during its open hours and hosts regular services and community events throughout the year. The exterior can be best explored from the waterfront area and surrounding streets to appreciate the full architectural design.

The interior features an apse with seven angled wall sections creating an unusual geometric layout. An organ installed in 1928 remains central to the church's musical life and worship services.
