Saint-Viateur d'Outremont Church

Saint-Viateur d'Outremont Church is a Gothic Revival building located at the corner of Laurier Avenue West and Bloomfield Avenue. Its six-story structure reaches about 45 meters high with tall, slender arches that define the neighborhood streetscape.

Construction began in 1911, shortly after the Eucharistic Congress of Montreal, reflecting the community's growing needs. The project resulted from the desire to establish a separate parish from Saint-Louis du Mile-End.

The interior displays works by local artists: stained glass windows by Guido Nincheri and wooden sculptures by Médard Bourgault create visual depth throughout the space. These pieces shape how the church feels and how visitors experience its decorated surfaces.

The church is accessible by public buses 51 and 168, which stop nearby and provide easy access. Visitor hours and accessibility may vary depending on services or special events.

The interior features oak woodwork by Philibert Lemay that complements a 1913 Casavant Frères organ. This careful pairing of handcrafted materials creates a harmonious acoustic and visual experience for those inside.
