Jackson Park, Public park in Windsor, Canada
Jackson Park is a 59-acre municipal space in Ontario, Canada, featuring formal gardens, sports fields, walking paths, and war memorials. The grounds contain cricket pitches, baseball diamonds, tennis courts, and picnic areas set alongside planted garden zones.
The city purchased the land in 1929 from a horse racing club and named it after Mayor Cecil E. Jackson. This acquisition established the foundation for the public park.
The Sunken Gardens fill the grounds with seasonal color through their diverse plantings. The park functions as a gathering space where locals come to spend time outdoors together.
The park has open access throughout and is straightforward to navigate, as facilities are spread across the grounds. Visitors should note that different zones serve different purposes, so a brief walk around helps locate the areas that match your interests.
The original war memorial, an Avro Lancaster bomber, was replaced in 2005 with fighter plane models that better withstand weather. The newer models preserve the war memory while being more practical for long-term outdoor maintenance.
