Greely, Residential neighborhood in Osgoode Ward, Ottawa, Canada
Greely is a residential neighborhood located south of Ottawa's center, where homes sit on spacious properties ranging from roughly half an acre to two acres (0.2 to 0.8 hectares). The area maintains its rural feel while providing residents with access to shops, services, and public transit connections.
Originally part of Osgoode Township, the area became part of Ottawa following the 2001 municipal merger and transformed from an isolated rural settlement into the city's largest by land area. This integration brought improved infrastructure and closer connections to the expanding city.
The Greely Community Association organizes annual events including Winter Carnival and Canada Day celebrations at the local community center for residents.
The area features a 24-hour grocery store, gas stations, restaurants, and medical offices that are easy to reach. Bus routes run regularly through here connecting you to downtown Ottawa and other neighborhoods in the city.
The area experienced rapid growth between 2000 and 2008 with nearly 60 percent more residential properties appearing. Despite this quick expansion, the community managed to keep its rural feel and natural surroundings intact.
