Lester B. Pearson Building, Federal heritage building in Lower Town, Ottawa, Canada
The Lester B. Pearson Building features four interconnected towers ranging from four to ten stories high at 125 Sussex Drive in Ottawa.
Queen Elizabeth II inaugurated this government complex on August 1, 1973, naming it after the fourteenth Prime Minister and Nobel Peace Prize recipient.
The building stands on traditional Algonquin Anishinaabeg territory and houses Global Affairs Canada, where 3,300 employees manage international diplomatic relations.
A major renovation project started in 2019 will transform the structure with modern office spaces, sustainable features, and improved accessibility by 2028.
The architectural design combines Late Modern movement with Brutalist elements, incorporating dark materials and strong horizontal lines for governmental representation.
