L'Île-Bizard, Quebec, Administrative sector in Montreal, Canada

L'Île-Bizard is a former municipality on Île Bizard, an island of 22.77 km² northwest of the Island of Montreal, now part of the L'Île-Bizard–Sainte-Geneviève borough. The Parc-Nature-du-Bois-de-l'île-Bizard occupies the centre of the island, surrounded by residential streets.

This sector began as a parish in 1855 and eventually merged with Montreal to form part of the L'Île-Bizard-Sainte-Geneviève borough. These administrative changes shaped how the area developed over time.

The island's name comes from Bizard, and its 1855 parish title honoured Saint Raphael. Vincent Lecavalier, the NHL player, grew up here and attended John Rennie High School, known for its athletics program. Pauline Marois, leader of the Parti Québécois, kept an $8M main residence in the area and was building another home on the island.

Plan a visit around the weather, as winters can be cold and parking may be restricted from December through April. Parks and natural areas remain open year-round, though conditions change with the seasons.

The island covers 22.77 km² and had 14,647 residents at the 2011 census. It is the childhood home of NHL player Vincent Lecavalier, who attended John Rennie High School, known for its athletics program. Parti Québécois leader Pauline Marois kept an $8M main residence in the area.
