Papanack Park Zoo

Papanack Park Zoo is an animal facility in Alfred and Plantagenet that houses dozens of species including snow leopards, cougars, and snow monkeys in designed environments. The park features multiple white Bengal tigers and allows visitors to observe the animals across its grounds through walking paths and viewing areas.

The facility opened in 1994 as an animal park and developed its animal collection over the following years. A change in ownership during 2014 brought new direction toward conservation efforts and visitor education programs.

The park appeared in the children's television series Zoboomafoo, helping young viewers learn about wildlife through entertaining storytelling. This connection to popular media brought attention to the facility among families interested in animal education.

The park sits roughly 25 minutes from Ottawa, making it accessible for a day visit from the city. Picnic areas are available on-site, and staff members conduct talks throughout the day to help visitors learn more about the animals.

Venus is a white Bengal tiger living at the park and stands out for her pale coat coloration, which is quite rare among tigers worldwide. Visitors often make it a point to see her during their visit to observe this distinctive feature firsthand.
