North Rustico Harbour Light
North Rustico Harbour Light, Maritime lighthouse in Resort Municipality, Canada
The North Rustico Harbour Light features a square wooden tower measuring 10 meters in height with an attached dwelling and operational lantern gallery.
Built in 1876 for $1,700 by P. Carroll, the lighthouse began its service in 1877 after receiving the necessary lamps for navigation purposes.
Six dedicated lighthouse keepers maintained this maritime beacon from 1868 until its automation in 1960, preserving maritime safety for generations of seafarers.
The lighthouse emits yellow light signals every ten seconds, guiding vessels safely into the harbor within a range of 13 nautical miles.
Following a severe storm in 1899 that capsized the structure, the entire lighthouse required relocation and reconstruction to ensure continued maritime safety.
