Bell Homestead National Historic Site

The Bell Homestead features a neoclassical Italianate villa with stucco finish, wooden front porch, and gable end chimneys on Tutela Heights Road.

Alexander Graham Bell conducted experiments in the converted carriage house laboratory, leading to the telephone invention in July 1874 at this location.

The museum displays period furniture, original artifacts, and exhibits documenting the Bell family's contributions to communication technology and deaf education.

Visitors can explore guided tours of the homestead, participate in educational programs, and purchase souvenirs at the reception center shop.

The first long-distance telephone call connected this site to Paris, Ontario on August 10, 1876, spanning a distance of several miles.
