YMCA Camp Wanakita

YMCA Wanakita covers 1000 acres of land with forest areas and waterfront facilities, offering outdoor activities throughout all four seasons of the year.

The camp started in 1953 as a boys-only facility on 30 acres of land before expanding to its current size and becoming inclusive to all genders by 1969.

The Indigenous heritage of the land is honored through acknowledgment of the Michi Saagiig and Chippewa Nations as traditional stewards of the territory.

The facility includes multiple cabin areas with washrooms, a central dining hall, water sports equipment, and specialized areas for activities like archery and climbing.

Every visitor who has attended the camp since its opening has their name displayed on a dedicated board at the entrance welcome center.
