Maison Antoine-Lacombe, Heritage house and garden in Saint-Charles-Borromée, Canada

Maison Antoine-Lacombe is a classified heritage property in Saint-Charles-Borromée, Quebec, consisting of a 19th-century stone house and extensive gardens along the Rivière L'Assomption. The house is built from cut stone in a neoclassical style common to rural Quebec.

The house was built in 1847 and recognized as a historic site by the Quebec government in 1968. In 1989, the town of Saint-Charles-Borromée purchased the property and turned it into a cultural center.

The gardens are laid out in two styles: English, with winding paths and naturalistic planting, and French, with straight lines and geometric forms. Each section has its own theme, making a walk through the grounds feel like moving through different worlds.

The gardens are open from June 1 to September 30, and the house is accessible Wednesday through Sunday in the afternoon. Free parking is available close to the entrance, making it easy to arrive by car.

The gardens feature artistic beehives, known as ruches d'art, created by artists during special events on site. These works bring together beekeeping and visual art in an unexpected way.
