Zoo al Maglio, zoo
Zoo al Maglio is a zoo in Magliaso, Switzerland, home to more than 300 animals representing about 60 different species. The facility features enclosures designed to let visitors observe lions, monkeys, and exotic birds from multiple viewing angles.
The zoo was founded in 1973 and is the only zoo in the Ticino region. Since opening, it has grown into an important community destination that helps visitors learn about animals and their environments.
Zoo al Maglio takes its name from the town of Magliaso and reflects the community's connection to nature. Visitors experience it as a place where animals live in settings designed to feel close to their natural habitats, creating a direct link between people and the animal world.
The paths throughout the zoo are easy to walk and fully accessible for wheelchairs, allowing all visitors to observe animals comfortably. Opening hours vary by season, with earlier morning starts in warmer months and later starts during colder periods.
Visitors can take part in an interactive adventure game called Wild Investigations where they become detectives solving mysteries throughout the zoo. This experience offers an engaging way to explore while learning more about the animals and how they live.
