Bern Botanical Garden

The Botanical Garden spans two hectares and contains seven greenhouses housing 6,000 plant species from diverse global environments and climatic regions.

Established in 1859, the garden moved twice before settling in its current location, where it became an integral part of the University of Bern.

The garden maintains a scientific collection that includes 1,500 alpine species from regions such as the Pyrenees and Himalayas within its Alpinum section.

Entry to the garden is free, with opening hours from 8:00 to 17:00 during winter months and extended hours until 17:30 from March to September.

The garden features specialized outdoor displays of cold-resistant succulents including Agave, Yucca, and Opuntia species adapted to Swiss climate conditions.
