Grandson Castle

Grandson Castle is a stone fortress situated near Lake Neuchâtel in Switzerland. The building features thick defensive walls, corner towers, and a central courtyard that overlooks the lake's waters.

The castle was founded around 1050 and achieved major significance during the Burgundian Wars. Swiss forces captured it from Charles the Bold in 1476, making it a landmark of Swiss military power.

The castle hosts regular exhibitions displaying medieval weapons, armor, and documents related to Swiss military history. Visitors can trace how warfare and defense methods evolved across different periods through these collections.

The grounds are open for visitors to explore the rooms and exterior at their own pace. There are seating areas and viewpoints overlooking the lake where you can take in the surroundings.

Within the medieval walls stands an automobile museum featuring classic vehicles spanning different eras. This surprising combination of ancient architecture and mechanical heritage creates an intriguing contrast.
