Lysser Aussichtsturm, Wooden observation tower in Lyss, Switzerland
Lysser Aussichtsturm is a wooden observation tower in the Swiss municipality of Lyss that rises to a height of 38 meters. The viewing platform offers sightlines across the flat regional landscape toward the Jura mountain range and Alpine peaks.
Construction took place in 2009 as part of a significant municipal celebration, backed by funding from local businesses and private contributors. The project marked an important moment in the town's recent development.
The tower has become a gathering point for locals seeking outdoor recreation and views from the surrounding plains. Its presence reflects the community's connection to the forested landscape that defines the region.
Reaching the platform requires climbing approximately 180 steps, so visitors should wear appropriate footwear and be in decent physical condition. Views are best on clear days when distant mountains become clearly visible.
The structure was built from Douglas fir and spruce wood, demonstrating traditional Swiss craftsmanship in wooden construction techniques. The materials were carefully chosen to ensure durability and resistance to weather conditions.
