Sendeanlage Nods Chasseral, Communications tower in Nods, Switzerland
Sendeanlage Nods Chasseral is a broadcasting tower made of reinforced concrete on the Chasseral mountain, transmitting radio, television, and emergency signals across the region. The structure features heavy walls and steel reinforcement designed to support its transmission equipment.
Construction of the tower began in 1975 and was completed in 1979 as part of regional broadcasting expansion. It underwent major renovation work in 2010 when a large fiberglass attachment was removed from the top.
The structure maintains regional connectivity by transmitting numerous radio frequencies, television signals, and emergency communications across the Canton of Bern.
Visitors can access the ground floor area and explore the mountain trails surrounding the site, though the operational sections of the tower are closed to the public. The location sits at elevation, so bring appropriate footwear and weather protection when visiting.
The facility contains water storage tanks positioned near its top that serve the local area while also helping to stabilize the structure. This dual purpose makes the tower function as infrastructure for both broadcasting and water supply.
