Mannenberg, Mountain summit in Ittigen, Switzerland
Mannenberg rises to an elevation of 688 meters above sea level, featuring forested slopes and a distinct geographical separation from the Grauholz ridge.
The mountain contains remnants of a 19th-century quarry that supplied foundation stones for numerous buildings throughout the Ittigen region.
The mountain area includes underground passages from the 16th century that served as water sources for the local communities.
Multiple hiking trails cross the mountain slopes, connecting to the Mannenberg transit stop and providing access to surrounding recreational facilities.
The mountain houses a protected water reservoir designed by Robert Maillart in 1906, featuring an innovative mushroom roof structure with five collection basins.
