Schwimmbad Geiselweid, Swimming center in Mattenbach district, Winterthur, Switzerland

Schwimmbad Geiselweid is a combined outdoor and indoor swimming complex in Winterthur, opened in 1911. The outdoor area includes a 50-metre swimmers' pool, a non-swimmers' pool, an adventure pool with a current channel, a children's paddling pool, a water slide, and a 900 m² natural pool. The indoor pool, added in 1974, has a 50-metre pool, a diving tower up to 5 metres, a non-swimmers' pool, a paddling pool, and a slide.

The Geiselweid cooperative was founded on 25 September 1908 at the Hotel Krone, after an initiative committee led by city president Rudolf Geilinger raised 150,000 francs in shares. The dye works of Carl Weber gave the site between the Eulach and the factory canal to the city free of charge. Architects Rittmeyer and Furrer began building in 1909, and the open-air pool opened on 14 June 1911, drawing 62,088 admissions in its first 100 days.

The name Geiselweid comes from the site between the Eulach and the factory canal, land given by the dyer Carl Weber. The open-air pool's long association with the Schwimmclub Winterthur, which fields national-league water polo teams for men and women, keeps competitive swimming visible here. The 1932 grandstand became known locally as the Affenfelsen.

The center provides different access points depending on which pool you want to use, with some areas designed specifically for different age groups. Visitors should plan ahead to choose the right facility for their needs.

The natural pool covers 900 m², the largest of its kind in Switzerland. It replaced the former school pool during the 2007/08 renovation, when the larger basin was also split in two.
