Rigiblick funicular

The Rigiblick funicular spans 385 meters across Zürichberg hill, containing five stations and operating two cars that transport 30 passengers each during the journey.

Following its inauguration in 1901, the funicular received metal-bodied cars in the 1950s to replace wooden ones and underwent an 80-meter extension in the late 1970s.

The funicular forms an essential connection between residential neighborhoods and recreational spaces, carrying 600,000 passengers annually through the northeastern section of Zürich.

The journey takes two minutes without stops, running every six minutes, and integrates with Zürich tram routes 9 and 10 and trolleybus route 33 at the lower station.

Passengers select their desired stop among three intermediate stations - Goldauerstrasse, Hadlaubstrasse, and Germaniastrasse - making it function similarly to an elevator system.
