Museum im Zeughaus

The Museum im Zeughaus is a technology museum housed in a former military arsenal that displays collections of military vehicles, uniforms, and technical equipment. The spaces contain over 50 operational vehicles and 21 tanks that document different periods of Swiss military engineering.

The Zeughaus was originally an 18th-century military arsenal before being converted into a museum that opened in 2005. The collection focuses on Swiss military history since 1792 and preserves traces of 130 mobilizations that affected society and infrastructure.

The exhibition halls show Swiss military life through figures, scenes, and objects spanning 250 years. These displays help visitors understand how military service shaped daily life and society.

Access to the building can be limited by season, so it is wise to check opening times before visiting. Guided tours are available upon request and offer deeper insight into the exhibitions and vehicle collection.

The museum maintains a collection of tanks and military vehicles in working condition that are rarely found in other Swiss museums. These operational vehicles are occasionally demonstrated and show the practical side of Swiss military engineering.
