Hasenbergturm AG, Observation tower in Widen, Switzerland

Hasenbergturm is a 40-metre observation tower built in 2021 from spruce and fir wood on the Hasenberg, the southernmost spur of the Heitersberg hill chain in Widen. A staircase of 210 steps leads to a viewing platform at 36 metres, from which the view extends from the Lägern to the Napf.

From 1904 to 1956 a residential tower built by the Baden veterinarian Adolf Meier stood beside the former Restaurant Hasenberg. It was demolished for safety reasons and because money for repairs and regular maintenance was lacking. The present tower, erected in 2021, replaced it as a viewpoint.

The name Hasenbergturm refers to the Hasenberg hill, the southernmost spur of the Heitersberg chain between the Reuss and Limmat valleys. The site's earlier tower belonged to the Restaurant «Hasenberg», which stood here from 1904 to 1956. Today the 2021 tower serves as a free viewpoint reached on foot from Widen.
