Dazu Rock Carvings, Rock carvings in China.
The Dazu Rock Carvings are a collection of religious sculptures and carvings, dating back as far as the 7th century AD, depicting and influenced by Buddhist, Confucian and Taoist beliefs.
Inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1999, they provide outstanding evidence of the harmonious synthesis of Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism.
These carvings are of significant cultural and aesthetic value, incorporating themes of filial piety, female chastity, and the afterlife.
The site is open to visitors year-round, with guided tours available upon request.
What sets Dazu apart, are the 50,000 figures, which in some cases reach 7 meters in height.
