Shaolin Monastery, Buddhist monastery in China
The Shaolin Monastery is a Chan Buddhist temple at Songshan Mountain, near Zhengzhou City, Henan Province in Dengfeng, China.
Founded in the 5th century, the Shaolin Monastery is the main temple of the Shaolin school of Buddhism to this day.
Shaolin Monastery is renowned for its association with Chinese martial arts and particularly with Shaolin Kung Fu.
It's open to visitors who can explore the Pagoda Forest, halls and temples, and watch kung fu performances.
Shaolin Monastery has been called the 'Number One Temple Under Heaven' and features in countless martial arts films.
