Luobidong

Luobidong is a large cave on Hainan Island featuring a spacious entrance and an expansive interior chamber. The space allows visitors to explore and experience the natural rock formations throughout the site.

The cave was inhabited at least 10,000 years ago, as revealed by archaeological finds from the early 1990s. These discoveries made it the oldest known human settlement site on the island.

The cave displays wall inscriptions left by visitors during the Yuan Dynasty, revealing how people connected with this place across centuries. These markings show the site's lasting importance in local tradition.

The cave is within easy reach of Sanya City and accessible for day visits. Visitors should wear comfortable shoes and be prepared for uneven ground and natural lighting conditions.

Two large stalactites hang from the ceiling resembling traditional Chinese writing brushes. This unusual likeness inspired the cave's name, which means 'hanging brushes'.
