Chengyang Yongji Bridge, Covered wooden bridge in Sanjiang Dong Autonomous County, Guangxi, China.
The Chengyang Yongji Bridge is a covered wooden bridge of 64.4 metres carried on three stone piers across the Linxi River in Ma'an village, Sanjiang County. Its upper structure combines corridor, veranda and pavilion: five pavilions rise along the span, one over each pier and one at the centre, above 19 verandas and a tiled roof. Wooden handrails line the 3.4-metre-wide walkway, about 10 metres above the water.
The bridge was completed in 1912, though one French source gives 1916, and was listed in 1982 as a Major Historical and Cultural Site Protected at the National Level under number 2-104. It crosses the Linxi River in Ma'an village and links two populous Dong villages. The author Guo Moruo wrote a poem for it.
The bridge exemplifies traditional Dong minority architecture and is known as a wind and rain bridge, symbolizing protection and communal spirit among the Dong people.
Located at VJWR+36C in Sanjiang County, the bridge provides wooden benches along its sides where pedestrians can rest while sheltered from weather conditions.
The bridge construction relies solely on traditional wooden joinery without any metal nails, showcasing ancestral craftsmanship passed down through generations of Dong artisans.
