Chengdu Goldenport Circuit, motorsport track in China
Chengdu Goldenport Circuit was a motorsport racing track located in Chengdu, measuring approximately 3.4 km (2 miles) in length with a mix of straights and sharp turns. The facility included an off-road course and skid pan alongside the main asphalt circuit for additional driver training.
Opened in 2007, the track hosted various racing events including the 2008 A1 Grand Prix, an international race featuring drivers from multiple countries. The circuit was demolished in 2018 following an announcement that the land would be repurposed for new developments such as high-speed rail or residential construction.
The location was easily accessible from Jinjiang Avenue and major roads such as the G4201 Chengdu Ring Road, making it convenient for spectators and racing teams. Since the site has been demolished and redeveloped, the original track is no longer available to visit, though local racing enthusiasts continue to hope for a future circuit facility in the region.
The track was known for its uneven surface, partly due to the swampy ground beneath it and partly caused by damage from the 2008 Sichuan earthquake. These irregularities created unique driving challenges and made racing here an unusual test of driver skill and adaptability.
