Pang Tong Shrine and Tomb

Pang Tong Shrine and Tomb is an ancient memorial complex located in Baimaguan Town, Luojiang County. The site consists of a large gate, a main hall, two side halls, a pavilion, and the burial place of military strategist Pang Tong.

Liu Bei commissioned this shrine in 214 AD following the death of his advisor Pang Tong during a military campaign in Yi Province. The complex later received national protection status, ensuring its preservation and importance for future generations.

The shrine displays statues of both Pang Tong and Zhuge Liang, two celebrated strategists from the Three Kingdoms period. Visitors can see how these two figures remain present in local devotion and how their legacies continue to shape the way people remember this era.

The grounds are easily walkable with clear paths connecting the various structures. Plan enough time to explore all areas, as the complex includes multiple buildings and outdoor spaces to visit.

Two ancient cypress trees on the grounds are believed to have been planted by General Zhang Fei himself. These trees remain standing today and serve as living witnesses to that distant era.
