Kangbashi District

Kangbashi District is an administrative district in Ordos City located in Inner Mongolia and features modern architecture with wide avenues and multiple residential communities. The area contains several subdistricts that serve different urban functions and include government facilities, educational institutions, and mixed-use developments throughout the zone.

The district originated from the Qingchunshan Development Zone in 2000 and gained official status as a county-level district through China's State Council in 2016. This transition marked a shift from its initial development phase toward becoming an integrated urban area.

The district features educational institutions including a Beijing Normal University campus, municipal libraries, and government buildings that serve the local population.

The district is best explored on foot or using local transport given its spacious layout and pedestrian routes throughout the area. Visitors should plan their route in advance since services and attractions are spread across multiple subdistricts.

The district was originally planned to house one million residents but initially experienced sparse settlement and gained a reputation as a ghost city. Over time it has evolved into a functioning neighborhood where daily urban life takes place.
