Chaoyangmen, city gate of Xi'an

Welcome to Xi'an, one of the oldest cities in China with a rich cultural heritage. As your tourist guide, I would like to introduce you to one of the most iconic landmarks of this city - Chao Yang Men. Chao Yang Men is an ancient gate located on the eastern side of the Xi'an city wall. It is situated north of Chang Le Men and at the eastern end of Dong Wu Road. The gate was first opened in 1939 and was rebuilt in 1992. The name "Chao Yang Men" means "facing the rising sun" as it is located on the eastern side of the city. In 1939, during the 28th year of the Republic of China, an air-raid shelter was built at the east end of Chong Li Road (now Dong Wu Road). Initially, the gate was planned to be named "Northeast Gate" or "Ping Yi Gate", but these names were not used. In the 1950s, a gap was formed at the location of the gate, and in the late 1980s, it was decided to repair the gap and build a new gate. The name "Chao Yang Men" was chosen because of its location on the eastern side of the city. In 1992, the gate was officially reconstructed with five arches, with the central arch being wider than the four smaller ones on either side. The road inside the gate is Dong Wu Road, while the road outside the gate is Chang Le Road. As you enter the gate, you will be transported back in time to the ancient era of Xi'an. The gate is surrounded by beautiful gardens and traditional Chinese architecture. You can take a leisurely stroll around the area and enjoy the scenic beauty of the place. Chao Yang Men is also a great place to learn about the history and culture of Xi'an. You can visit the nearby museums and historical sites to learn about the city's rich cultural heritage. The gate is also a popular spot for photography, so don't forget to bring your camera! In conclusion, Chao Yang Men is a must-visit destination for anyone visiting Xi'an. It is a perfect blend of ancient history and modern architecture, and it offers a unique experience that you won't find anywhere else. So, come and explore this beautiful landmark and discover the magic of Xi'an!
