Caotang Temple, Buddhist temple in Shaanxi
The Caotang Temple, located northwest of Xi'an in Shaanxi province, is a prominent Buddhist monastery.
Established during the Sixteen Kingdoms period, it marks more than 1700 years of history.
This sacred site was built in honor of Kumarajiva, a celebrated Buddhist translator.
Declared a National Key Buddhist Temple in 1983, it's an active place of worship and tourism.
The temple houses Kumarajiva’s relics and attracts thousands of pilgrims annually.
