Shiniuzhai National Geological Park

Shiniuzhai is a national geological park in the foothills of the Qilian Mountains with sandstone formations in various mineral colors. The landscape is divided into several distinct sections, each with its own rock patterns and color combinations.

Tectonic movements, rain, and wind shaped the rock structures over millions of years into their current forms. These natural processes created the different patterns and color variations visible throughout the park today.

The colored sandstone layers represent different mineral compositions that locals and visitors interpret as natural art. Walking through these sections connects you to how the landscape shapes regional identity and creative expression.

The park features level boardwalks throughout that are easy to walk on, with viewing platforms at various locations. Visit during dry seasons when the paths are in their best condition for walking.

The Linze Danxia section displays rock layers in multiple mineral colors, while the Binggou area near Liyuan River shows completely different geological features. These contrasts let visitors experience two distinct landscapes within the same location.
