Welcome to the Three Heroes Temple, located in the Wuhou District of Chengdu, Sichuan Province. This temple was originally built during the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty and was relocated to its current location within the Wuhou Shrine in 1997 due to urban development needs. The reconstruction of the temple was completed in January 1998, using original building components and plaques. In 1981, it was declared as one of the first cultural heritage sites under protection in Chengdu. The Three Heroes Temple is composed of a main hall, a worship hall, and two side corridors. Inside the main hall, there are clay sculptures of Liu Bei, Guan Yu, and Zhang Fei. The worship hall contains two sets of black marble reliefs depicting the Peach Garden Oath and the Battle of the Three Heroes against Lü Bu. The main hall has five bays and features a raised-beam style roof. Upon entering the temple's main gate, visitors will see a large bell hanging on the east side, which is a common ceremonial object. At the back wall of the main hall, there are three shrines containing clay sculptures of the three heroes. The sculpture of Liu Bei, which stands in the middle, is 2.8 meters tall, while the sculptures of Guan Yu and Zhang Fei on either side are both 2.6 meters tall. As a cultural heritage site, the Three Heroes Temple offers visitors a glimpse into the rich history and culture of Chengdu. The temple's architecture and sculptures are well-preserved and provide an excellent example of traditional Chinese craftsmanship. Visitors can also learn about the stories and legends surrounding the three heroes and their contributions to Chinese history. We hope you enjoy your visit to the Three Heroes Temple and take away a deeper appreciation for the cultural heritage of Chengdu.
