Carmelite Monastery Church of the Annunciation

The Carmelite Monastery Church of the Annunciation features pointed arches, ribbed vaults, and vertical elements characteristic of late Gothic ecclesiastical architecture.

Founded in 1406 by Hans V von Hirschhorn, the monastery experienced dissolution in 1803, fell into disrepair, and underwent reconstruction before reconsecration in 1910.

The monastery contains memorial stones and effigies dedicated to the Hirschhorn family, documenting the religious and social influence of local nobility.

Located beneath Hirschhorn Castle along the Neckar River, the church maintains regular worship services for the Roman Catholic community of Hesse.

The church survived multiple attempts at demolition due to maintenance costs until the town transferred ownership to the Catholic community in 1886.
