Remchingen, German municipality
Remchingen is a small municipality in Enz district made up of three former towns: Nöttingen, Singen, and Wilferdingen. It sits between the Kraichgau region and the Black Forest, bridging two distinct landscapes.
The municipality was formed in 1975 from four separate towns and named after a medieval noble family. Johann Gottfried Tulla, born in Nöttingen, engineered the Rhine River correction in the 1800s and left his mark on European water management.
The municipality takes its name from a medieval noble family that once lived near the Black Forest. Today cultural life centers on the timber-framed buildings of Nöttingen and the conversion of the Old Church into a gallery for exhibitions, concerts, and readings rather than worship services.
The municipality sits about 15 kilometers from both Pforzheim and Karlsruhe, making it easy to reach by car. Visitors can enjoy a heated outdoor pool in the woods, a smaller indoor pool, and sports facilities for various activities throughout the area.
One unusual sport practiced here is Rhönradturnen, where athletes use a large wheel to perform acrobatic movements and flips. Local clubs keep this distinctive discipline alive, surprising visitors with its gymnastic complexity.
