Stolberg Castle

The palace rises on a hill with steep drops on three sides, featuring a round tower from 1200 and Renaissance architecture from the 16th century.

The castle served as the residence for the Counts and Princes of Stolberg from the 13th century until their dispossession in 1945.

The palace includes the Great Reception Room and Red Salon, both designed by architect Karl Friedrich Schinkel in the neoclassical style during the 19th century.

Parts of the castle, including the chapel and princely wing, remain open to visitors following extensive restoration work by the German Foundation for Monument Conservation.

The palace gardens combine baroque and modern terrace designs with a forest park, featuring a deer avenue and a deer monument.
