Augsburg Protestant Cemetery is a large burial ground in the Hochfeld district with thousands of graves displaying a range of monument styles. The grounds include a chapel and administration buildings that serve as the center for ongoing operations and burials.

The Protestant Cemetery was laid out in 1534 by the Augsburg city council, outside the city walls. It was expanded southward in 1884 and northward in 1928. It is still in use, making it Augsburg's oldest cemetery where burials take place.

The cemetery preserves the graves of Augsburg's patrician families, including the Welser, Sulzberg and Stetten tombs, alongside industrialists such as the Riedinger and Forster families. The parents of playwright Bertolt Brecht are also buried here. Since 1658, burial registers have been kept, and 18th-century tomb inscriptions were recorded in this archive.

The cemetery is open to visitors and well-organized with clear paths throughout the grounds. Wear comfortable shoes, as the space is large and walking through different sections takes time.

The cemetery keeps a collection of old burial registers that were already preserved in 1658, and the archive also records 18th-century gravestone inscriptions. In 1838 Ferdinand Seidel deciphered and published the inscriptions that existed on the tombs in 1837.
