Zeche Graf Bismarck, Coal mine and heritage monument in Gelsenkirchen, Germany.

The industrial complex included multiple shafts, extensive tunnel networks, and specialized facilities dedicated to coal extraction and processing in the Ruhr region.

Founded in 1868 and named after Otto von Bismarck, the mine started operations in 1873 with its first shaft and expanded throughout the following decades.

The mine contributed to the formation of the Bismarck district, creating residential areas and social infrastructure for the mining community.

The facility extracted approximately 2.6 million tons of coal annually by 1965, employing thousands of workers across multiple operational sectors.

The mining complex paid significant royalties to the Duke of Arenberg until 1918, totaling over 2.7 million marks for mineral extraction rights.
