Festung Peitz

Festung Peitz is a massive military fortress in Brandenburg with a prominent central tower and thick brick walls spanning multiple levels. The structure combines Italian brickwork techniques with Dutch earthen fortification methods in its distinctive design.

The fortress began construction in 1559 under Margrave Johann of Küstrin to protect Brandenburg's isolated territories. The fortification system was designed following the most advanced military knowledge of the Renaissance period.

The fortress exhibits regional military building traditions through displays of historical weapons and documents spanning several centuries. Visitors learn about the role this structure played in defending the territory during its active years.
