Altes Schloss, Royal palace and archaeological site in Pappenheim, Germany.
The castle features four corner towers, round windows, and a column-supported portal entrance that demonstrates Renaissance architectural elements.
Built before the 16th century, the castle served as the residence of the Counts of Pappenheim until they initiated construction of a new palace in 1593.
The interior contains late Gothic door and window frames from previous structures, along with stucco ceilings dating from the 16th to 18th centuries.
Located at Graf-Carl-Straße 13 in Pappenheim, the castle now functions as an office and residential building, making it inaccessible for public tours.
A simple Baroque building once bordered the courtyard toward the Altmühl River, following the course of the city wall between two round towers.
