St Luger's Church

The Propsteikirche St. Ludgerus features two prominent towers reaching 100 meters high and measures 56 meters in length and 26 meters in width.

Built between 1892 and 1898, the church stands on the foundations of a former Romanesque structure where Bishop Liudger baptized people in the 9th century.

The east window spans 15 meters in height, presenting biblical scenes from both testaments and concluding with Saint Ludger celebrating his final mass.

The church interior contains multiple chapels, including a northeast section dedicated to the Blessed Mother with six saint paintings and a winged altar.

The structure incorporates Baumberger sandstone from nearby quarries and houses a population of kestrels at the top of its towers.
