Odenwaldschule, School in Ober-Hambach, Germany
Odenwaldschule is a complex of school and residential buildings set among the wooded hills near Ober-Hambach, used as a boarding institution until 2015. The site consists of several separate structures scattered across the forested grounds, originally housing classrooms, dormitories, and common areas.
Paul and Edith Geheeb established the institution in 1910 as a boarding school with progressive teaching methods that integrated practical crafts and artistic activities into daily learning. After several changes in ownership and financial troubles, the school closed permanently in 2015.
The institution implemented a system where students lived in small residential groups, participating in both academic studies and daily community responsibilities.
The complex sits in a forested area above the town and can be reached by a narrow access road. Since the buildings are now used as a residential development, there is no public access or scheduled visiting hours available.
The grounds now bear the name Wohnpark Ober-Hambach and house private apartments in place of the former classrooms. Some of the original buildings are protected as monuments and retain their exterior appearance from the founding period.
