Schloss Rosenau, Gothic Revival castle in Coburg, Germany
Schloss Rosenau stands on a hill above the Itz River, featuring black-stained furniture and colorful frescoes throughout its residential and assembly rooms.
The medieval castle, first documented before 1439, underwent extensive renovation between 1808 and 1817 under architect Karl Friedrich Schinkel's guidance.
The Marble Hall hosts summer concerts where visitors can experience classical music performances in the same room where Prince Albert's baptism took place.
The palace opens daily except Mondays from April through October, with guided tours available in German and English through the Bavarian Castle Administration.
Baron Pernau conducted bird behavior studies at the estate between 1704 and 1720, releasing young finches to research their singing patterns.
