Pfungstadt

Pfungstadt is a town in the Darmstadt-Dieburg district of Hesse, located in central Germany south of Darmstadt. The municipality sits near the Odenwald hills and features the architectural mix typical of towns in this region.

The settlement began in 785 as a monastery property and evolved slowly over centuries into a local center. The arrival of the railway station in the 1800s brought enough growth to earn town status in 1886.
