Wolfgangshof, Estate and architectural heritage monument in Zirndorf, Germany.
Wolfgangshof is a protected estate and hamlet in the town of Zirndorf, in the Franconian part of Bavaria, west of Nuremberg. The property groups several farm buildings around a central yard, all showing the regional architectural style with steep roofs and stone or timber construction.
The estate has medieval origins and served for centuries as a working farm in the Franconian countryside. Over time it passed through different owners, and its buildings were gradually added to or repaired, which is why the site today shows layers from several different periods.
The name Wolfgangshof refers to Saint Wolfgang, a figure widely venerated across Bavaria. Visitors can still see the layout typical of Franconian estates, with a central courtyard and farm buildings arranged around a shared working space.
The site is on the edge of Zirndorf and easy to reach from Nuremberg by local train or by car. The grounds are open-air, so sturdy footwear is recommended, especially after rain when paths can be muddy.
Unlike many protected estates in Bavaria, Wolfgangshof has never been turned into a museum or visitor center, so it retains the look of a place still connected to everyday rural life. This makes it one of the few protected farmstead sites in the area where the setting feels genuinely unaltered.
