Kroll Opera House, Opera house in Germany
The Kroll Opera House was a large opera building in Berlin-Mitte that opened in the 1840s with capacity for about 2,400 people. It hosted classical operas and theatrical performances that attracted audiences from across the city.
The building opened in 1844 as a music venue and later became the seat of the Reichstag during the Weimar Republic. It was destroyed by bombing in World War II and never rebuilt.
The venue hosted premieres and performances by renowned composers and artists.
The building no longer stands; government offices now occupy the site. Markers and information plaques help visitors understand what once stood there.
In the 1930s, it served as the meeting place for the German parliament after the Reichstag building was damaged. This role made it a symbolic location during one of the most critical decades in German history.
