Pilsum Lighthouse, Maritime navigation tower in Krummhörn, Germany

The cylindrical steel and cast iron structure rises 15 meters above sea level, featuring horizontal red and yellow stripes with a green conical roof.

Built in 1891 as a sector light for the Emshörn channel, the lighthouse guided ships through narrow passages until its deactivation in 1915 during World War I.

The lighthouse gained national recognition through its appearance in the 1989 German comedy film Otto: The Alien from East Frisia by Otto Waalkes.

Visitors can climb the 28 steps inside the tower during guided tours, which provide information about maritime history and the importance of dike construction.

Since 2004, the lighthouse functions as an official wedding venue, allowing couples to exchange vows within its historical maritime walls.
