Greetsieler Zwillingsmühlen, Two windmills in Greetsiel, Germany

The Greetsiel Twin Mills are two distinctive windmills at the eastern entrance of Greetsiel village in Krummhörn, consisting of a red mill and a green mill. They stand around 130 meters apart and shape the East Frisian landscape with their different colors and functions.

The red mill dates to 1706, while the green mill was built in 1856, both surviving storms and fires through the centuries. The red mill incorporates parts from the old Aurich Wall Mill of 1750 within its structure.

Both mills show traditional East Frisian milling techniques, with the red one still producing flour and the green one housing a tea room and art gallery. They are important landmarks of local craft culture and shape the village's character.

Visitors will find parking near the southeastern side of the mills along Mühlenstraße. Both mills are easily accessible on foot from there and well signposted.

The red mill can operate using both wind power and motor, a rare capability among historical mills. This dual function allows it to grind flour even when there is no wind.
